Florida attractions for nature lovers

Those visiting the United States will find the state of Florida has a fantastic amount of attractions for nature lovers as it is very bio-diverse. There are numerous gardens and beautiful parks around the state and for those coming to this area they are going to find a fascinating amount of nature to explore.

Florida’s location in the south of the United States means that it enjoys a partly tropical and partly subtropical climate. In the centre of the state you will find a very hot area which has frequent storms and regular hurricanes. One of the greatest gardens to visit in the state is Bok Tower Gardens which is a stunning place full of lush landscapes and is a real inspiration to anyone that visits. The majesty of the plant life here is stunning and anyone is sure to have a wonderful time.

Cyprus Gardens are a very old place and have a tree that was planted in 1939 which has reached an enormous size. Walking down the Topiary Trail is a fascinating experience and shows what can be done with topiary and visitors will see hedges carved into shapes such as serpents, swans and rabbits. One of the greatest sights in these gardens is the spectacular waterfall which cascades down a beautiful cliff covered with plants and flowers.

South of Disney World you will find the Disney Wilderness Reserve which is run by a non-profit organisation dedicated to conservation and this park is just part of their work. Overall they are the largest private conservation body in the world and own the largest amount of land dedicated to conservation.

Lake Kissimmee State Park is responsible for some of the cowboy heritage that is known in Florida. This was set up in 1876 and was a place where people would hunt cows. Today it is embracing this history and there are several demonstrations by experts about how hunting takes place. There are many other activities to enjoy in this part including fishing, boating and canoeing in some of the stunning lakes in the area.

There are over 30 miles of trails for hikers in the area as well as six miles dedicated to equestrian sports. There is also a beautiful place to have lunch with picnic facilities and there are several campsites where people can stay overnight.

Silver River is another State Park that has a significant number of walking trails. There are also numerous springs and other natural attractions in the Park including the Silver River. There is also a museum in the park as well as an education centre dedicated to informing people about the environment.

Silver Springs is something that is known as a natural theme park and there are many attractions for visitors to see in the area. There are glass bottomed boats which go out onto the Silver River and you will be able to see the natural springs as well as numerous types of aquatic life.

The water is incredibly pure and you can see deep down into it, which at its deepest point is around 80 feet. The area is also home to some of the largest alligators in Florida as well as panthers and various endangered species of bear. In addition to the natural attractions there are also rides and exhibitions set up.
